Call for Applicants: PIERO PATRI FELLOWSHIP 2010 on the BLUE GREENWAY
The SPUR Piero N. Patri Fellowship was established by Piero's family in 2006, in honor of Piero N. Patri's commitment to good planning and urban design. The Fellowship recruits a graduate level Planner, Architect or Landscape Architect to spend a summer studying and developing a Concept Plan for a selected project. For further information, go to: http://www.spur.org/communityplanning/patri/callforapplicants.

The SPUR 2010 Piero Patri Fellowship Program has selected the Port of San Francisco's Third and Cargo Gateway for this years project. The scope of the project will require the candidate to conduct a site assessment and key stakeholder outreach that will be the basis for a Site and Use Plan that will serve the diverse uses anticipated on the site including:

a) a new commercial opportunity to serve local residences, workforce and trucking businesses by reutilizing the existing historic scale house;
b) providing an expanded and integrated open space that can be an amenity to the new commercial use and be utilized by the Bayview community that incorporates Blue Greenway improvements, including new bicycle and pedestrian facilities on Illinois Street and Cargo Way and new public art at the adjacent Pier 90 Grain silos;
c) providing an improved setting for the fire station that could become a partner in activating the site; and
d) collectively becoming an improved gateway to the Bayview community.

The Site plan must not impact the access to the Ports cargo operations, including vehicular, freight rail or waterborne vessels.

Neighborhood Parks Council wishes to thank the San Francisco Foundation, the
Evelyn & Walter Haas Jr. Fund and the Hellman Family Foundation for their
generous support of the Blue Greenway.
